So if you’ve been living under a rock for the last 18 months or so, you’re not aware that the FR-S/BR-Z is the hottest tuner car on the market. At under $30,000 for a base model, it’s easy to understand why. For this reason, the purists that own them decided to start their own meet/show/track event. Enter 86Fest.
On August 11, 2013, hundreds of Toyota purists and enthusiasts descended upon Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA for the second annual 86 Fest. This is the premier event on the west coast for the FR-S/BR-Z/86 enthusiast. It brought together close to 400 cars of varying degrees of modification. The range was impressive, from Ken Gushi’s Greddy x Scion Racing FR-S to Toshiki Yoshioka’s Tomei Power BR-Z to Mike Kim and Noel Barnum’s tastefully modded FR-S and everything in between.

So once again Saturday night comes around, and I pack up the bag to head out to my weekly meet. I decided to move them to 8PM instead of 9PM a few weeks ago due to DST and all that nonsense, I arrive at RPM around 7PM to get everything ready… Boy was I in for a suprise. I find out we had 3 food trucks showing up, Rehv Clothing and DaYUUM! had a booth set up selling clothes, and one of the Food trucks, Tailgate truck Had a flat screen with DSport videos and music going all night!
